Man, 44, Shot Dead On Camden City Street: Prosecutor

A 44-year-old man was shot dead on a Camden City street early Saturday, Feb. 24.

 At 2:36 a.m., the Camden County Police Department received a ShotSpotter activation for gunfire in the 3000 block of South Congress Road in Camden City, according to the county Prosecutor's Office.

 The Camden County Police Department also received 911 calls for a person shot in the area of the 3100 block of South Congress Road. Officers responded and located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, and he was pronounced deceased at 3:02 a.m. 

The victim was later identified as 44-year-old Maurice McCargo of Camden City.

This investigation is active and ongoing at this time.
